The Community Safety Unit deals with hate crime such as racist, homophobic and domestic violence and harassment.
 
The office is staffed by a detective inspector, 4 sergeants and 16 police officers. There is also a victim support officer on site.
 
The unit ensures that hate crimes are investigated properly. It also offers legal and criminal advice and can put clients in touch with solicitors and support agencies.
