The Hungerford
Drug Project provides advice, support, information and treatment for people
who are experiencing problems with drug-use and for their families and
friends. The Hungerford is part of Turning Point, a UK charity working
with people who experience problems associated with mental health, alcohol,
substance misuse, and HIV/AIDS.
The Hungerford responds
to the needs of drug users from hard-to-reach groups such as rough sleepers,
vulnerable young people , the black and minority ethnic and the gay and
lesbian communities.
It runs a range of
open access and treatment services from the Soho premises including complimentary
therapies, weekly one-to-one counselling sessions, weekly surgeries, one-to-one
regular keyworker sessions and life skills development.
Clients can refer
themselves, either by telephoning or attending the daily reception service
that runs from 2.00pm - 5.00pm every weekday and 11.00am to 5.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Referrals are also accepted
from probation officers, arrest teams, social workers, counsellors, GPs,
Street Services teams, homeless agencies and client’s friends and
family.
